GAM3 Awards 2023 recently revealed its list of nominees. The GAM3 Awards is a major Web3 gaming and awards ceremony. This year, GAM3 partnered with Magic Eden, a popular decentralized marketplace for all sorts of NFTs.
More than 70 traditional and web3 gaming experts gather to decide which games are the best in each category. The jury this year consists of executives and leaders from Amazon, Google, Ubisoft, Microsoft, Samsung, and web3 gaming ecosystems as well as VCs, media outlets, and content creators.
The prize pool for the winning games this year is more than $2 million, and it comes from a variety of partners, including Amazon, Magic Eden, AD Gaming, Ultra, Blockchain Gaming Alliance, Naavik, Aethir, and Horizon. It also includes cash grants, tech service credits, marketing support, sponsored tournaments, infrastructure support, and cloud gaming functionality.
To help create the preliminary list of nominees, 214 nominated games were first presented to a jury comprised of more than 70 members. Forty shortlisted games have advanced to the next round, which is open for community voting starting today, November 22, based on criteria including gameplay, mechanics, replayability potential, “fun” factor, accessibility, and overall quality.
By contrast, the first edition of the 2022 awards featured 106 nominees, and the quantity of qualified games with playable versions more than doubled. This indicates the remarkable development of web3 gaming over the course of the previous year.
The top five networks represented in the final shortlists are Polygon, Ethereum, Immutable X, Arbitrum, and Avalanche. Of the 40 shortlisted games, nine blockchain networks were represented. This year marks Arbitrum’s first time receiving an award, with four of its games making it to the final round.
