Monster pet-taming games have been the talk of the town recently with Palworld hitting 19 million players across Steam and Xbox. Another pet-taming game Pixelmon is coming back with a successful fundraiser, and an upcoming token launch.
Seed Raise
The fundraising round saw participation from Angel Investors such as Yat Siu of Animoca Brands, Ray Chan of 9gag, and Robbie Fergurson of Immutable among others.
Pixelmon, which was acquired by cryptocurrency venture capital firm LiquidX in 2022, went through a process of transformation. LiquidX was looking for big friends for future projects, saying that the game had enough money to run its business. Giulio Xiloyannis, CEO, stressed the significance of trustworthy partners who share Pixelmon’s mission.
Pixelmon also joins Mocaverse, a web3 ecosystem made by Animoca Brands.
Beyond only games, Pixelmon wants to decentralize company operations with the Mon Protocol and the future MON cryptocurrency. The Ethereum ERC-20 token will function as an IP protocol, rewarding and encouraging NFT holders who make significant contributions to the platform’s expansion. Mon Protocols empowers NFT holders by enabling people to take part in choices on the Pixelmon IP.
PixelPals
Pixelmon also introduces Pixelpals, a unique game that blends card dueling with land and pet management. Players can farm $MON by skillfully managing land in Pixelpals. The top 100 participants will split the USD 120,000.00+ prize pool, with layers vying for a piece of that money.
The original’s Minecraft-esque artwork was criticized, and the Pixelmon team decided to replace it with more upscale and comical creature models. The company aimed to change people’s perceptions while accepting its rough start.
The game is free-to-play. To receive your free Pixelpal, you can install Pixelpals on your smartphone, then follow a few easy steps to create an account!
