In the ever-expanding metaverse, where digital realms come to life, Decentraland stands out as a playground for innovation and imagination. Among its many virtual wonders, Soul Magic shines as a magic-themed role-playing game and is one of Decentraland’s most popular scenes.
How Soul Magic Came to be
Soul Magic emerged as a DAO grantee, marking itself as one of the leading P2E (Play-to-Earn) projects in Decentraland. This magical-themed role-playing game invites players to immerse themselves in a world where they can earn valuable in-game resources, items, and Wearables. Following its selection for Decentraland’s first play-to-earn incubation program in early 2022, the platform unveiled a public alpha version in October 2022 at coordinates (-95, -89).
Within just three months of its alpha release, Soul Magic attracted over 3,000 players. The game’s creators recognized its potential and submitted a grant proposal to expand it into more than just a game. Supported by the Decentraland community and swift proposal approval, the DAO granted funds to further enhance it, adding features like a PvP arena and forging partnerships with fellow Decentraland creators.
An Enchanting Gameplay Experience
Soul Magic, co-founded by Mazzak (a game designer) and DDD (a 3D artist), is set in the mystical school of Elswyth. Players embark on a magical journey, casting spells, completing quests, and interacting with other enchanted beings. The game seamlessly blends four core gameplay elements: Meditation, Alchemy, Crafting, and Trading. Players can gather resources through activities such as mining, farming, and trading, with Gold Midas serving as the in-game currency.
What sets Soul Magic apart is its captivating story-driven adventure, reminiscent of classic MMORPGs like RuneScape. The addition of the Black Forest PvP arena adds an exciting competitive element, allowing players to showcase their skills and gain recognition in the Decentraland gaming community. Furthermore, the platform is expanding into the world of card games, thanks to a second grant iteration.
What to Expect
Soul Magic remains a work in progress, building upon the foundation laid by the DAO’s grants. The future holds exciting developments, with plans to introduce a card game, expand players’ personal spaces, and introduce a potion-crafting mini-game. A significant magical event is also on the horizon, promising continuous enchantment for players.
Recognizing the need for sustainable revenue beyond grants, Soul Magic is exploring various avenues, including selling in-game items, subscription models, token fundraising, advertising, and event hosting. Their immediate goal is to foster a larger community and enhance user engagement.
