The voice clips were created by the collaboration of three BAYC creators and are acted out by some celebrities.
If you thought the NFT bubble was going to pop any time soon, then you’re in for a surprise. A group calling itself Voiceverse origins launched the world’s first audio NFTs. The 8,888 NFTs launched on January 29, 2021, made a first of sorts by selling within 10 minutes of their creation on the Ethereum blockchain.
As per a press release, three Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) members added voice clips over their BAYC NFTs to make the new voice-loaded-NFT clips. Surprised by the outcome of the sale, the company said that the NFT gravy train chugs on, noting that the sales frenzy was “a highly rare occurrence for the NFT collections stored on the Ethereum blockchain.” The company said:
“Voiceverse looks to pioneer the NFT space into the next generation of NFTs containing high intrinsic utility, allowing holders to own a voice in the metaverse. With Voice NFTs, people can now customize their Profile Picture (PFP) NFTs with a voice, adding another dimension of personalization and pseudonymity.”
A different way for artists to monetize their art
NFTs act as a certificate of ownership of specific digital artifacts and can represent anything like photos, videos, and now audios or any other type of digital file. When someone owns the voice, NFT of audio, they become the owners of full rights of that specific audio. Should that particular audio be worth something in the market, then you would own something of value.
We could soon see artists join the new frenzy and start creating voice NFTs as certificates of art authentication. This could become a different way for artists to monetize their art by creating NFTs that could certify a form of ownership that they can transfer without losing copyright to their art.
Spark a trend towards the second generation NFTs
What’s more, anyone holding an audio NFT can use their voice in the metaverse for video calls, games, and any other emerging socials. People can also create verbal NFTs or those of their loved ones. It’s also possible to mix different voice NFTs to create a new NFT besides adding voices to their existing profile picture NFTs. Voiceverse’s parent LOVO stated:
“After a week of pre-sale, Voiceverse Origins sold out in 10 minutes and has been trending in all categories on OpenSea. It has also been consistently in the top 10 for sales volume (by count). Given its background in AI and speech synthesis, Voiceverse looks to shake up the industry and spark a trend towards the second generation NFTs.”
