- The Canton Network has announced the native issuance of the USD1 stablecoin on its network.
- The digital asset’s integration significantly expands its use cases in RWAs and enables seamless, atomic settlement across institutional participants on the privacy-focused chain.
World Liberty Financial (WLFI), a decentralized finance (DeFi) platform linked to the Trump family, has announced on Tuesday the integration of the USD1 stablecoin on the Canton Network (CC), a Layer-1 blockchain (L1) purpose-built for financial institutions and regulated markets. This means the digital asset, pegged and redeemable 1:1 to the US dollar, is now natively issued on the public, interoperable chain partnered with the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) and backed by a coalition of Wall Street giants.
USD1’s issuance on Canton unlocks more use cases for the asset beyond instant payment and fund-transfer settlements. It expands the stablecoin’s utility in both centralized finance (CeFi) and DeFi, including in derivatives trading, institutional lending, real-world asset (RWA) tokenization, project funding, and redemption.
USD1’s Native Issuance on Canton Network
According to RWA.xyz, Canton has a represented asset value of $316.67 billion in RWAs. Meanwhile, World Liberty claims that Canton issues and processes more than $9 trillion in tokenized assets monthly.
USD1 enables seamless, near-real-time transaction clearing across high-value capital markets. Its native issuance on Canton lets ecosystem participants execute atomic settlements within the chain’s privacy-focused rails. This way, they can avoid reliance on bridged wrappers when connecting to an institutional asset pipeline, which could expose them to cross-chain security vulnerabilities.
Zak Folkman, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of World Liberty Financial, highlights that tokenization is moving faster money. However, many institutions are still stuck in an obsolete financial system rife with inefficiency and settlement risk.
“Institutions have put trillions in US Treasuries and government debt onchain, but the dollar leg of settlements still runs on outdated infrastructure, creating a gap where the cost and the risk sit,” said Folkman. “Canton and native USD1 together allow real-world assets to access a dollar that settles alongside them with speed and privacy.”
On the other hand, Eric Saraniecki, Co-Founder of Digital Asset and Head of Network Strategy at Canton, emphasized that stablecoin support has been expanding in their chain, and USD1’s addition offers market participants more options while reinforcing workflows on the network.
“As more stablecoins become natively available on Canton, institutions gain greater flexibility in how they fund, settle, and move liquidity across applications and markets,” stated Saraniecki. “USD1 expands that choice and strengthens the cash infrastructure supporting the growing range of real-world assets and institutional workflows on the network.”
