- An industry expert believes that the upcoming White House meeting with the SEC, CFTC, crypto executives, and representatives from TradFi sends a clear message that Trump plans ‘to power ahead’ to establish regulatory clarity for digital assets regardless of the outcome of the CLARITY Act in Congress.
The White House is hellbent on pushing for regulatory clarity in crypto, tokenized real-world assets (RWAs), and the Web3 space. On Wednesday, President Donald Trump’s group, alongside the chairmen of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), will meet with the major players in the digital asset sector to advance rules on the industry regardless of the Digital Asset Market CLARITY Act’s voting outcome in the Senate this September.
Attendees at the White House Meeting on Crypto
According to earlier reports, executives from Coinbase, a16z, Ripple, Chainlink, Kalshi, Paradigm, and the Digital Chamber will join the event. Nate Geraci, President of NovaDius Wealth Management and Co-Founder of the ETF Institute, revealed that representatives of Polymarket and Gemini will also attend the upcoming meeting at the White House.
Additionally, representatives from the traditional finance (TradFi) sector will be present. It will include people from Nasdaq, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), and the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC).
Sending a Clear Message to Congress
Geraci believes the gathering strongly indicates that the Trump administration will not sit idly as the Senate appears to have no sense of urgency in voting on the CLARITY Act. This is despite Majority Leader Senator John Thune filing for cloture, which could potentially end the filibuster on the bill by September 15.
Moreover, the meeting sends a message, showing the White House’s conviction to get the ball rolling on digital asset regulation with the backing of key regulators, the crypto community, and TradFi.
“Garnering support for that would be great, but [I] think they’ve already made [a] decision to power ahead regardless,” said Geraci. “[I] Predict this meeting will strongly reinforce that message.”
Chances of CLARITY Act’s Passage Into Law
CLARITY Act faces its last hurdle in the Senate more than a year after it secured a 294-134 vote in the House of Representatives. If it successfully gains at least 60 votes at the cloture, the procedural vote could end the lengthy debate on the bill and push it to a final vote, which will only require a majority or 51 votes to clear its transmittal to Trump’s desk for signature.
Notwithstanding the latest developments, sentiment around the CLARITY Act remains bleak. Polymarket shows only a 20% chance that the bill will be signed into law this year. Meanwhile, Kalshi reflected a 22% chance on the same matter.
