- The White House has released its new “Cyber Strategy for America” initiative on Friday.
- The plan outlines US President Donald Trump’s goal of reinforcing the country’s vital information technology (IT) infrastructure across various industries, including crypto and AI.
White House on Adoption of Post-Quantum Cryptography
According to the plan, the current administration aims to secure America’s “unrivaled” advantage in cyberspace. It called for coordination across government and private entities to develop the best technologies, ensuring a continuous flow of innovation to safeguard the nation’s key leverage.
The document tackled general measures to address the looming quantum technology threat across industries. The White House stated that it will “accelerate the modernization, defensibility, and resilience” of federal information systems by integrating cybersecurity best practices, post-quantum cryptography, zero-trust architecture, and cloud transition.
The regime believes the USA’s superiority in emerging technologies that will underpin the future of finance. Hence, the plan included building secure technologies and supply chains to protect user privacy from design through deployment.
Interestingly, the plan explicitly prioritized the deployment of post-quantum security measures for cryptocurrencies and blockchain technologies. This comes amid the perceived vulnerability of major chains to the looming quantum threat, with some experts saying that over 30% of Bitcoin’s (BTC) supply is in address types vulnerable to quantum attacks.
Integration of Agentic AI to Combat Hostile AI
The program also focuses on keeping the USA’s dominance in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). It noted the use of AI-enabled cyber tools to “detect, divert, and deceive threat actors.”
The framework adopts agentic AI to scale network defense and disruption against adversarial elements. An agentic AI is a type of artificial intelligence capable of designing, executing, adapting, and optimizing workflows, either autonomously or with minimal human intervention.
The Trump administration aims to utilize agentic AI to counter AI coming from hostile actors in their efforts to erode the USA’s leadership and key infrastructure, as well as platforms created to censor, surveil, and mislead their users.
Common Sense Regulation and Building Talent in Cybersecurity
The White House considers America’s cyber workforce a “strategic asset.” Therefore, it underscored its commitment to streamlining cyber regulations to reduce compliance burdens while making sure they align with global standards and continue to impose liabilities on industry participants.
Furthermore, the plan sought cooperation among members of the government, the corporate world, academe, and others to educate and train both the new and existing workforce to ensure the continuity of the USA’s IT advantage into the next generation.
