- Tether led NEURA Robotics’ $1.4 billion investment round for the mass production of AI-powered cognitive robots.
- The stablecoin giant also plans to power Neuraverse’s machine economy by integrating its self-custodial wallet toolkit directly into the robotic network’s workflow.
Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether, recalled that he really wanted an Emilio robot, an interactive radio-controlled toy robot, for Christmas when he was a kid. However, he never received one.
Now, Ardoino is reliving his dream of a robotic future. Tether announced on Wednesday that it led the investment round of NEURA Robotics, a full-stack robotics company, which raised approximately $1.4 billion.
The stablecoin giant joined Qualcomm Technologies, Amazon, NVIDIA, imec.xpand, Bosch, Schaeffler, European Investment Bank, Lingotto Horizon, InterAlpen Partners, and other big companies in NEURA Robotics’ recent Series C financing.
NEURA Robotics’ Business Proposition
NEURA Robotics is a Germany-based company specializing in AI-powered robots. Hence, it also referred to itself as a “Physical AI platform” during its pitch.
The business specializes in a comprehensive portfolio of robotic systems, including humanoid robots, precision robotic arms, autonomous mobile robots (AGVs/AMRs), and service robots. It built its machines “to operate across every environment where human-machine collaboration creates real-world value,” including manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, services, and households.
NEURA Robotics stands out from traditional robotics platforms by integrating robotics, AI, sensors, edge computing, and large-scale learning infrastructure into a unified platform. David Reger, the company’s founder and CEO, highlighted that, unlike the current iteration of AIs, which are limited to onscreen interaction, their AI transcends to physical tasks.
The robots are capable of moving, learning, interacting, and working alongside humans in the physical world. NEURA Robotics plans to allocate the funds to scale production of cognitive robots, with a target deployment of several million units by 2030. Additionally, it will use the investment to expand its Neuraverse software platform and training environments for AI-powered robots.
Tether Powering the Robotic Economy
At the core of NEURA Robotics’ long-term strategy sits Neuraverse. The unified software serves as the hive mind connecting robots, components, AI models, data compute, and services into a single, interoperable ecosystem.
Moreover, Neuraverse offers a marketplace for components, AI, and simulation capabilities for autonomous robotic systems. That’s where Tether also comes into the picture.
Tether’s role goes beyond being an investor in NEURA Robotics. The stablecoin giant aims to drive Neuraverse’s machine economy.
The company plans to integrate its proprietary Wallet Development Kit (WDK), a self-custodial toolkit, directly into the robotic network. This way, AI systems can process payments, transfer funds, and execute other transactions within human-predefined perimeters.
The model eliminates intermediaries, reduces cost, and speeds up transactions by embedding settlement directly into the workflow.
