- The institutional gates to Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana are opening wider in Germany as ING Deutschland launches its new crypto ETNs.
- The German bank’s move comes amid a shaky crypto market driven by cautious investor sentiment and strong macro headwinds.
ING Deutschland has launched cryptocurrency exchange-traded notes (ETNs) for retail investors. The new investment product from one of the largest banks in Germany opens customers exposure to Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Solana (SOL).
ING’s New Crypto ETFs
The bank stated that the new ETNs reduce friction for investors wanting exposure to BTC, ETH, and SOL. ING’s platform will allow them to hold their crypto ETNs alongside other securities in existing portfolios. In other words, there’s no more need for users to manage multiple wallets, private keys, or separate crypto accounts.
ETNs differ from common exchange-traded funds (ETFs). The former only offers holders a bank-issued debt note, meaning investors do not hold the underlying assets, unlike the latter. However, the ETNs are still exposed to crypto’s price movements and the typical risks arising from its volatility.
ING’s Other Recent Advancements in the Digital Asset Market
ING has been notably active in the crypto scene over the years, despite tracing its roots back to the 18th century under the name Rijkspostspaarbank, a postal savings system. Last year, it joined forces with eight other banks to launch a Markets in Crypto Assets Regulation (MiCAR)-compliant euro-dominated stablecoin.
The consortium expects to begin issuing the new token in the second half of 2026.
A Shaky Crypto Market
ING’s launch of its new crypto ETN comes amid a very cautious market sentiment, as indicated by the Crypto Fear & Greed Index remaining within the “Extreme Fear” level at 17 on Alternative.me’s scale. Ryan Lee, Chief Analyst at Bitget, also warned of further turbulence ahead.

According to the notes Lee shared with Blockzeit, the recent dives of Bitcoin below $75,000 and Ethereum under $2,200 were mainly driven by the classic correction in precious metals, such as gold and silver, following their new historic peaks.
Macro headwinds added to the pressure, as investors met US President Donald Trump’s nomination of Kevin Warsh as new Federal Reserve chairman with uncertainty. Additionally, the market continues to grapple with cascading liquidations, which could amplify volatility. Lee highlighted that the current setting underscores the need for resilient infrastructure and risk management to guide industry growth.
Given the current market conditions, Lee anticipates short-term price oscillations between $70,000 and $80,000 in Bitcoin, with potential downside spikes due to thin liquidity. Meanwhile, Ethereum could range between $1,800 and $2,600 in correlation with the premier crypto asset.
Lee said that stabilization may only occur once the Fear & Greed Index rebounds above 40, while liquidation volumes continue to decline and spot ETFs show significant inflows.
