- Casper Network is repositioning the csprUSD token as its default stablecoin for the agentic AI economy.
- The asset will go live on mainnet by Q3 2026.
Casper Network (CSPR), a proof-of-stake (PoS) Layer-1 blockchain, has unveiled its plan to reposition csprUSD, its native US dollar stablecoin, in the payments sector. Alongside Sarson Funds, a blockchain and crypto education and marketing platform, it’s giving the asset an upgrade to refocus its use case in the growing agentic AI (artificial intelligence) economy.
Key Features of Casper’s csprUSD Stablecoin
Sarson Funds developed and launched the csprUSD stablecoin on Casper in 2024. According to the Casper Association, it aims to transform the asset into a standard stablecoin for its ecosystem.
The parties redesigned the csprUSD to be Casper’s default stable settlement for applications, decentralized finance (DeFi), and every agent transacting through Casper’s x402 rails. To date, they have already established centralized exchange (CEX) listings for the asset. It includes trading pairs against other major stablecoins to ensure its liquid on- and off-ramps upon deployment.
Casper highlighted that the upgraded token benefits from Casper Enhancement Proposal (CEP)-97, which simplifies its chain’s gas payment logic. It significantly lowers the network’s minimum transaction cost from 2.5 CSPR to 0.1 CSPR. The foundation explained that Casper’s low gas fees make csprUSD practical for micropayments, as the fraction-of-a-cent rates won’t exceed actual payments.
The asset also integrates Casper’s ProofLayer infrastructure. The measure provides transparent, cryptographic receipts on-chain for real-time verification of off-chain US dollar reserve collateral, mintings, and redemptions.
Casper eyes the mainnet rollout of the upgraded stablecoin by the third quarter (Q3) of 2026. Currently, it’s undergoing testnet validation and security auditing to ensure its success. Additionally, the parties involved are making sure that the asset aligns with rigid regulatory standards.
Meanwhile, developers who are interested in establishing their payment flows on Casper can already start building and testing the official x402 facilitator on Casper Testnet.
Humans Becoming a Minority on the Internet
Citing Cloudflare data, Casper emphasized that automated traffic has surpassed human activity online. In fact, it traced 59.4% of all web requests to the former.
AI agents are exhibiting a growing share in the segment. Currently, they are gradually taking center stage, especially in calling APIs (Application Programming Interfaces), retrieving data, booking services, and purchasing AI compute.
Overall, the csprUSD stablecoin offers a settlement layer for those automated transactions on the internet.
“Now agents are becoming the majority of internet traffic, and they can’t fill out a checkout page, won’t commit to an annual subscription, and are not going to send a wire,” said Michael Steuer, President and CTO of the Casper Association. “They need to pay per request, at machine speed, in stable value, and with negligible yet predictable cost. csprUSD on Casper is that: a dollar an agent can actually spend.”
