- MEXC has partnered with Bybit EU to enable the seamless migration of its users to a MiCA-compliant crypto platform.
- The parties recommend that affected users move all their assets to Bybit EU by October 31.
MEXC is among the major casualties in the European Union’s full enforcement of the Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) regulations. Dutch authorities flagged the Seychelles-registered exchange as early as September 2025.
The Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM), the country’s financial watchdog, explicitly called out MEXC for illegally operating in its jurisdiction. The regulator highlighted its lack of authorization and license, thus placing it on the European Securities and Markets Authority’s (ESMA) register of non-compliant crypto-related entities.
As a result, MEXC gradually wound down its business and eventually ceased its crypto operations on July 1, the end of MiCA’s grace period for digital asset institutions that refused to embrace it. To ensure the smooth transition of its users, the exchange partnered with Bybit EU, the Bybit Group’s specialized, fully regulated crypto platform in the European Economic Area (EEA).
MEXC Recommends Bybit EU
MEXC recommended Bybit EU as an alternative for Dutch users primarily due to its MiCA authorization, which it secured from Austria’s Financial Market Authority (FMA) in May 2025. Additionally, it offers a wide range of products and services to meet customers’ varied demands and strategies.
First, Bybit EU processes direct euro deposits and withdrawals via the Netherlands-based online payment platform iDEAL and the SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) EU framework. It considerably reduces the onboarding and offboarding friction for local traders. Likewise, the feature lets them leverage MiCA’s passporting rules to move funds efficiently, securely, and quickly across the euro sphere of influence.
Then, Bybit EU supports more than 115 tokens across 135 spot pairs in euros and US dollars. This gives Dutch investors broad exposure to curated digital assets that align with the Netherlands’ and the EU’s strict rules, particularly consumer safeguards.
Speaking of rigid rules, MiCA prohibits commingling client funds with the company’s reserves and operational assets. This protects users’ assets from the crypto exchange’s insolvency risks and operational losses.
Lastly, Bybit EU has dedicated support for Dutch customers to ensure better communication through native-language assistance and enable tailored solutions for local queries and account troubleshooting.
Perks for Migrating Users
Bybit EU reminded MEXC customers that their migration will not be automatic. With that, they must manually create and verify their accounts.
However, the partners have rolled out a “dedicated transition package” for seamless onboarding to Bybit EU. It includes preferential fees for migrating MEXC users and Bybit Card cashback as an extra incentive.
MEXC and Bybit EU advise affected users to complete their asset transfers by October 31 to avoid any inconvenience ahead of MEXC’s final offboarding on November 16 this year.
