- Bitmine raised its Ethereum holdings to over 5.8 million tokens, controlling 4.81% of the digital asset’s circulating supply.
- The company staked 87.29% of its Ether portfolio to generate up to $257 million in annualized staking revenue.
Bitmine Immersion Technologies (BMNR) has shown greater commitment than Strategy (MSTR) as a digital asset treasury (DAT) company. It has been non-stop in its accumulation of Ethereum (ETH) since it started buying the crypto asset more than a year ago.
Update on Bitmine’s Ethereum Portfolio
On Monday, the company struck a balance in the negative vibe that Strategy brought after announcing another batch of Bitcoin (BTC) sales to raise more cash to pay its dividends and repurchase over a hundred million dollars worth of STRC preferred shares. Bitmine disclosed that it continued buying Ether over the past week, adding 7,391 ETH to its stash.
At Coinbase’s prevailing exchange rate of $1,928 per ETH on Sunday, the latest transactions cost an aggregate sum of around $14.25 million. Meanwhile, it raises Bitmine’s overall portfolio to 5,805,238 ETH, accounting for 4.81% of the token’s circulating supply. The institution’s progress moves it closer to its “Alchemy of 5%” initiative, which aims to capture 5% of Ethereum’s available tokens.
Bitmine’s Ether holdings add to its portfolio, consisting of 209 BTC, a $180 million stake in Beast Industries, a $69 million stake in Eightco Holdings (ORBS), and $104 million in total cash plus marketable securities.
To optimize its DAT, Bitmine has also staked roughly 87.29% of its Ether holdings in its proprietary MAVAN (Made in America Validator Network) platform and partners. Thomas “Tom” Lee, the company’s chairman, expects the move to generate up to $257 million in annualized staking revenues.
Tom Lee Remains Positive About Coming Market Tailwinds
Lee expressed disappointment over the US Senate’s failure to vote on the Digital Asset Market CLARITY Act. With Congress now in recess, the bill is again delayed for at least another month. Nonetheless, Senate Majority Leader John Thune filed a procedural motion for a cloture to force an immediate vote on the legislation once sessions resume in September.
The Bitmine chairman remains optimistic, though, that the softer inflation and jobs data significantly reduce the odds of the Federal Reserve raising interest rates. He claimed that the chance of a rate hike has fallen from 75% two weeks ago to 40%.
Lower interest rates typically favor Bitcoin, Ethereum, and the broader crypto market. Lower borrowing costs generally boost market liquidity. Furthermore, lower yields in traditional safe-haven investments often lead investors to seek higher-risk digital assets with greater earning potential.
