Bitcoin Price Prediction: Reclaiming Key Levels as Resistance Caps Momentum

Bitcoin has returned to a technically important zone after reclaiming major weekly support, but price now tests immediate resistance that could determine the next directional move. The short-term recovery is intact, yet confirmation depends on whether buyers can extend gains above nearby barriers while defending recently reclaimed support levels.

Short-Term Structure Tightens as $78K Becomes Decision Zone

Bitcoin is currently pressing into the upper boundary of its recent consolidation range, with the $77,500–$78,300 region emerging as the immediate decision zone. A sustained move through this area would strengthen the case for continuation, while rejection would reinforce the view that the current advance remains corrective.

On the lower timeframes, price action shows a three-wave recovery rather than a fully impulsive breakout. That structure suggests the market is still testing strength rather than confirming a durable trend shift. Until resistance is cleared with conviction, short-term support levels near $76,500 and below remain relevant.

On the downside, immediate support sits near $76,579, followed by $75,910 and $74,968. These levels form the first micro-support zone. If resistance holds and momentum fades, price could revisit these areas quickly.

The broader short-term setup remains conditional. Bitcoin has bounced from the lower range, but buyers must break above the $78,280 region to shift structure more convincingly in favor of bulls.

Weekly Close Reclaims Bull Market Support Band

On the higher timeframe, Bitcoin delivered a constructive signal by closing the weekly candle above the Bull Market Support Band, the 2025 low, and the March high. This reclaim strengthens the short-term structure, but confirmation now depends on the retest holding as support.

The Bull Market Support Band now becomes the key level to monitor. If BTC successfully holds above this zone, the next technical objective could be the upper Bollinger Band. However, a failed retest would weaken the breakout thesis and bring reclaimed levels back into question.

For now, the weekly structure favors cautious optimism, but buyers must defend the retest before momentum can accelerate.

Macro Pressure and Liquidations Weigh on BTC

Bitcoin recently slipped below $76,000 after failing to maintain strength near $80,000. The move coincided with geopolitical tension surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, thin weekend liquidity, and macroeconomic uncertainty ahead of key Federal Reserve decisions.

More than $100 million in long liquidations were triggered during the drop from $78,000 to below $77,000, amplifying downside volatility. Open interest has rebuilt toward $25 billion, indicating leverage has returned to the market. While leverage can support rapid upside moves, it also increases vulnerability to sudden corrections.

Meanwhile, veteran trader Peter Brandt noted that Bitcoin remains inside an ascending parallel channel rather than forming a confirmed bullish bottoming structure.

Brandt argues that a decisive break above the upper boundary of the channel with strong volume would be required to revive aggressive bullish projections. He also pushed back against forecasts of a $250,000 Bitcoin price in 2026, suggesting a more extended cycle structure may be in play.

Satoshi-Linked Fork Debate Adds Structural Context

Beyond technical and macro dynamics, Bitcoin is also facing a renewed ownership debate. Developer Paul Sztorc has proposed a forked chain called eCash that would reassign coins widely associated with Satoshi Nakamoto under a modified ledger structure.

While this proposal would not alter Bitcoin’s main chain balances, it has sparked broader debate about dormant coins, ownership integrity, and protocol governance. The discussion arrives amid ongoing concerns about whether long-inactive Bitcoin should be frozen in the future due to potential quantum computing risks.

Market reaction would likely depend on adoption. The original Bitcoin network remains unchanged unless ecosystem participants broadly adopt any such fork. However, these discussions add another layer of narrative complexity during a technically sensitive period for BTC.

CoinCheckup’s Bitcoin Price Prediction for 2026

CoinCheckup’s Bitcoin price prediction points to a gradual recovery through 2026 rather than an explosive breakout. In April, BTC is projected to trade between approximately $77,847 and $84,497, with average levels near $81,700. May forecasts show slightly tighter consolidation near the $79,000 range.

Momentum is expected to strengthen in June, where projected highs approach $92,858, representing one of the strongest upside windows of the year. July and August projections remain elevated, with potential highs near $91,476 and $89,226 respectively, suggesting mid-year stability at higher levels.

In the final quarter of 2026, forecasts indicate moderation rather than collapse. October through December projections place BTC within a range between roughly $75,000 and $83,000, implying consolidation above current long-term support zones. Overall, the outlook reflects a constructive but measured trajectory, with steady gains contingent on macro stability and continued demand.
