Arbitrum is a layer-2 blockchain that Offchain Labs built. Following Optimism‘s footsteps, Arbitrum might be conducting their airdrop soon. The ticker for the token is yet to be announced. However, crypto Twitter is already speculating either $ARB, $ARBI, or $AB. Only time can tell for sure.
So, what is the Arbitrum Odyssey, and does it have anything to do with the highly speculated airdrop?
What is Arbitrum Odyssey
Arbitrum Odyssey is an eight-week journey into the Arbitrum ecosystem. It is an onboarding program designed to encourage crypto users to explore the vast world of Arbitrum. Arbitrum has collaborated with Ratwell, Sugoi, and Project Galaxy (GAL) to make the journey fun and rewarding. Ratwell and Sugoi are famous NFT artists in the crypto space.
The two-month initiative will allow users to try out several on-chain protocols on Arbitrum and get free-mint NFTs.
At the end of the journey, Any user who collects 12 or more NFTs will get an additional more exclusive NFT from Arbitrum.
Arbitrum Odyssey Timelines
On April 13, 2022, Arbitrum conducted a broadcast announcement on Twitch. The announcement was about which protocols qualified to participate in this initiative. According to the Arbitrum team, 56 protocols (most active) would be participating. These projects would be grouped into 14 groups of four teams each. Here are the 56 projects:
June 21, 2022, is when the journey begins for the users. The first week will be about bridging Ethereum from other blockchains to Arbitrums using any bridges that made it to the list of 56 projects.
After the bridging week, the following seven weeks will be divided into two projects per week. Users need to perform tasks outlined by those projects within the duration of the week to qualify for an NFT. The nature of the on-chain tasks is specific to the protocol, and the Arbitrum team does not influence them.
Week 1
Bridge week started June 21, 2022, at 1 PM EST. Two NFTs will go to users who used any bridge and those who used the bridge with the most dollar volume and wallets. You can only bridge Ethereum (ETH), and there is no minimum amount to bridge. Here is the list of bridges to use:
We shall provide updates to the Arbitrum Odyssey every week until it’s over. So stay tuned, and good luck!
About Arbitrum:
Abitrum is an EVM-compatible blockchain that completes transactions on Ethereum for a fraction of the cost on mainnet Ethereum. Arbitrum is also capable of smart contracts, hence the rapidly growing DeFi ecosystem on this chain.
Moreover, Arbitrum is highly scalable since it moves smart contract computation off the mainnet Ethereum, providing much higher transaction speeds.
